Oh, Hi!
Introduction
Who am I?
I am a writer, translator and interpreter. I’m also a reader, daydreamer, habitual pacer and enthusiastic homecook. My current day job is a blend of labor policy advocacy and building labor-climate coalitions.
In no particular order, some of what I love include naps, coffee, lounging, slow and quiet mornings, my plants, stationeries, singing in the shower, stone fruits, toiletries, comedy, water bodies, reptiles, aquatic mammals, dogs, poetry (strictly as a reader), Spring, early Fall, breezy overcast days, and heavy rainfall (as long as I am not going somewhere). Snow is stunning until it starts to melt.
I am Bengali-American by way of Bangladesh. Of all the places I have lived and grown up in (there’ve been a bunch), Brooklyn— where I am— is where I’ve felt most at home.
Unapologetic em dash and oxford comma devotee. Evidently liberal with parentheses too.
I love taking care of my home and nesting. My unrelenting pursuit is cultivating comfort and safety. I have a lot of pillows and blankets. Is there a connection? Hmm…
My favorite thing to do, is nothing. Solitude, silence, resting and idling are my most valuable hard-earned luxuries. I see them as direct descendants of autonomy.
Second favorite is lounging with my closest ones, luxuriating in giggle (sometimes tears) laden addas, and cooking for them.
Suburbs make me nauseous and push me to fantasize about the end of the world.
I love getting lost— in thoughts, music, dance, greenery, stories and conversations.
I’m a sucker for a good rabbithole. Send me down one please.
You will find me on IG, Twitter and Threads under the same handle: farahcudah.
What am I doing here?
Responding to an urge to share and the curiosity about what inhabiting this space is like. Hoping this will help me cultivate a more consistent writing and systemized communication practice.
So… What is this space?
A free newsletter. I am not putting any part of this behind a paywall. I will be adding a Buy Me a Coffee link to my posts in case you enjoy something I share and want to express that monetarily.
You won’t hear from me more than once a month. In other words, I won’t be jamming your inbox.
In terms of content, each newsletter will have at least one of these 3 sections:
Think w/ Me— where I will write down one of the things that’s been on my mind and I would love to hear your thoughts on it too. Don’t be shy about leaving a comment! [but be shy about trespassing the boundaries of decency]
Eat w/ Me— where I will share a recipe
Read w/ Me— where I will share thoughts on one book and/or share links to pieces I have read through the month, liked or think are important.
In the process of ideating a 4th section. It will take a bit of time to come to fruition as it will be collaborative. I’ll keep you posted as things develop.
